Range of topics on next Bexhill Town Forum agenda

Flood management, Fairtrade and more is on the agenda for the next Bexhill Town Forum later this month.

There will also be updates from the Bexhill Youth Council and De La Warr Pavilion on what they have in store for 2016 at the meeting on Friday, February 26.

Forum chairman Alan Peirce is glad the agenda is being built around the requests from residents which makes the meetings more relevant.

“I am looking forward to the next forum particularly because of the range of topics that it will include,” he said.

“It is immensely pleasing that the residents of Bexhill are increasingly making contact and letting us know what they would like the forum to cover enabling us to be sure that forums are relevant and of value to all.”

Flooding has blighted the town this winter and the forum will be discussing concerns on whether there is flood risk for the new housing planned in north Bexhill.

De La Warr Pavilion chief executive Stuart Drew will be giving an insight into the People’s Palace as well as what is planned for the rest of the year.

Another discussion topic will be the choice of shops in the town centre.

Is the range of shops too narrow, who makes the decisions on what shops are allowed and what controls are in place to manage the town centre?

The Fairtrade fortnight is coming up and the forum will investigate what this means, especially as Bexhill is a Fairtrade town.

Finally the Bexhill Youth Council will give an update on what is being doing about litter and what its next project will be.

The committee will also address a number of topics members have brought up.

The meeting is at St Peter’s Chuch in the Old Town, with informal chat and refreshments from 6.30pm before a 7pm start.
