Red Noses? As red as a pillar box!

CHANGE yourself for a day and transform someone else's life forever ... that's the message behind Red Nose Day.

One Bexhill man certainly did that and had his hair dyed pillar box red.

Local landscape gardener Phil Dawes, 41, from Downlands Avenue, said: "I guess I'm a little old for all this but it's all for a good cause."

The now red head Phil said "I quite like the end result but it will be gone in six to eight weeks.

Although the children enjoyed the day's activities they do regular fund raising for a school in Gambia so were aware of the seriousness behind red nose day.

The school hope to encourage the children to correspond with their Gambian counterparts getting to know each other on a more personal level.

Mr Maultby explained Sending pictures of buildings built using money the children have raised helps them see exactly where their money has gone.

David Wallis chairman of the school said: "It helps teach the children geography and learn about different cultures."

Red Nose cakes were on sale as part of the fund-raising and the children all brought in donations.

Mr Maultby said the amount raised will be in the hundreds.
