RNLI Coffee Morning

VISITORS to the RNLI coffee morning on Thursday were treated to a talk on the history of Bexhill Sailing Club.

Geoff Furlong read from A History of Bexhill Sailing Club, written by a club member, to a crowd of around fifty people.

The event was held in the Sailing Club building on the De La Warr Parade.

After the reading there was a raffle, and the chance to buy second hand books and puzzles from stalls.

The money raised went to the RNLI.

Dave Gardner, Chairman of the Bexhill branch of the RNLI, said: "We're trying to open up the Sailing Club and the RNLI to more people.

"We've got a programme of speakers lined up, including coastguards and saling instructors. We plan on holding events in the summer where members of the public can come and try sailing. It's a friendly atmosphere, and the more people who come, the better support for the RNLI."

The event takes place from 10-12 noon on the last Thursday of every month, with next month's being on March 26 at the Sailing Club.

The 50p entrance fee includes a coffee and biscuits.
