Rotary club helps christmas charity

BEXHILL Rotary Club presented a cheque for £300 to the Surviving Christmas charity last week.

The money will help fund the charity's activities this year, including supporting vulnerable people and families in the Hastings and Bexhill area over the Christmas period.

Last year they helped 5,000 people, including 1,300 families and over 450 elderly people, in addition to those attending their three day Open Christmas at the YMCA, at a total cost of 35,000.

They expect even more to attend this year, including people from Sidley, Battle and Rye.

Anyone who is homeless or lonely from December 25-27 can attend their open days, and food vouchers will be distributed to approximately 1,300 families and young people in need. Around 500 food hampers will be given to the elderly and housebound.

Rotary Club President Richard Harrison presented the sum to Judith Witcherly of Surviving Christmas.
