The first vacancy is for a Branch Standard Bearer and Branch Secretary Stuart Marfleet says it is a very important role. “It is essential that the person selected is physically strong and able to handle the Branch Standard under all conditions,” he said. “A brief criteria for the applicant would be to have clean, neat, tidy hair not resting on collar. No nose or other facial piercings and a generally smart military bearing.” The successful applicant would be required to be a fully paid-up member of The RBL on their appointment.

Stuart says the second vacancy, for a Poppy Appeal Organiser, is an equally important role. “The Royal British Legion raises millions of pounds each year through a number of fundraising events,” he said. “Our major event being the annual Remembrance Day Parade in November. “The Poppy Appeal Organiser would work with our Community Fundraisers throughout the year to plan and organise the Poppy Appeal in our local area. An organised mind would be an advantage, however, the ability to chat with local businesses and generate an interest in the work of the RBL is essential.”
