Royle visit

A member of the Royle Family is attending the Mais House summer fair this year...but she's not from the House of Windsor.

Actress Liz Smith played Nana in the award-winning BBC comedy written by Caroline Aherne.

She was also the eccentric parishioner in The Vicar Of Dibley who made strange food from inappropriate ingredients.

Liz will open the event at the Royal British Legion home in Hastings Road on Saturday June 21 at 2pm, but she is not the only attraction....there will be the band from Little Common RBL, and performances by Rye Dancing School, as well as refreshments, tombola, bric-a-brac and games.

Mais House activity organiser Alan Bearne said: "There will be plenty to interest and amuse."
