RSPCA fundraising event staring Osborne the Emu
THE RSPCA held a special fund raising event at Freezeland Farm on Sunday and making a special guest appearance was Bexhill celebrity Osborne the Emu.
Along with the chance to see three week old baby Osborne - who proudly strutted around, clearly adoring the attention from well-wishers - guests had the opportunity to enjoy the many splendours of the farm which included taking in farm owner's Bill and Margaret Van Dratt's beautiful gardens and, to see the wide variety of resident animals and birds, including chicken's, hedgehog's and Llama's.
There was also the opportunity to purchase items from stall's selling book's, craft's, picture's, fancy good's and delicious home-made cakes and jams - all made and donated by RSPCA volunteers.
The 'cat-tombola' proved to be very popular as did Tracy Docksey's plant stall.
Lunches, teas, coffees, cakes and scones were also served.
Chairman of the Sussex East & Hastings Branch of the RSPCA Mary Bristow said she was, "incredibly grateful' for the opportunity to hold the fund-raising event at the farm, adding: "People seem to think that the RSPCA is a wealthy charity but it's not. We are self-financing, self-funding and rely on the dedication of our volunteers."
