Scope needs your stuff

What to do with those novelty socks or the Strictly Come Dancing fitness dvd?

It's the thought that counts, of course, but if you have received gifts you know you'll never use, now's a great time to pass them on to someone who will.

British households hoard 4 billion worth of quality goods that they never use, which is why disability charity Scope is appealing to all of us to de-clutter and donate for a good cause.

After the festive season most of us have ended up with more pairs of socks, stationary sets or toiletries than we actually need '“ and we all have a few things lurking in the wardrobe we have never actually worn.

You don't have to be a feng shui expert to know that clutter is bad - most of us have stuff we don't intend to wear, mend or use again.

Scope's local charity shops are located at 39 Sackville Road, and on White Rock parade in Hastings. Both stores are appealing for people to donate their unwanted Christmas presents and also have a quick rummage around their home for good quality unwanted clothes and bric-a-brac.

Scope relies heavily on the generosity of local people to donate good quality stock which it then sells at its shops to generate income for its vital work with disabled people.

Alex Macaulay, Area Manager for disability charity Scope said: "For the New Year, why not have a root around in your wardrobes, cupboards or the attic and see what you no longer need. And rather than throw out unloved goods, why not drop off at our Scope stores.

"With every donation you are helping us make a real difference to the lives of disabled people, allowing us to continue running schools, adult services, Scope Response helpline and our campaigning for disabled people to achieve equality."
