Seafronts on flood alerts

Flood alerts have been issued along the coast with the seafronts at Bexhill, Hastings, Eastbourne, Pevensey and Seaford all in danger from possible flooding.

The Environment Agency put these areas on alert just before 11pm on Sunday (October 27) just ahead of the anticipated storm and hurricane-strength winds which are expected to reach their peak at around 5am on Monday morning.

The affected areas are: Coastal areas of Bexhill including West Parade, Egerton Park and De La Warr Parade, Eastbourne seafront including Marine Parade, Royal Parade, Sovereign Park and the Martello Tower, coastal areas of Pevensey Sea Front between Sovereign Harbour and Beach including Norman Road Pevensey, The Promenade Pevensey, The Parade Pevensey, Beachlands, Normans Bay and the Cooden Beach Hotel, Seaford seafront including The Esplanade, Areas behind and near the Martello Tower, Buckle Caravan and Camping Park and Salts Recreation Ground, and Hastings seafront between White Rock and Rock-a-Nore Road.
