Seal pup released

AN injured seal pup has been released after being nursed back to health near Hastings.

The animal, which was found on Cuckmere Beach, had been treated at the RSPCA centre at Mallydams Wood last month along with another seal which had been discovered in Hastings by a dog walker.

Both seals spent time in a special pool with the injured pup being treated for lung-worm and flipper damage.

RSPCA officer Richard Thompson said: "We resolved the problem with its flippers and it put on loads of weight. It came in at 15kgs and we released it at 40kgs.

"That is really good. It was so healthy and much happier."

Both animals were released into the sea at Pett Level last Wednesday during fine and sunny conditions.
