Cantelupe Community Association, which fought for St Barnabas Church in Sea Road to be saved from threatened demolition, is “much encouraged” by its new direction as reported in last week’s Observer.
The Association has been organising monthly arts and crafts fairs in the church since 2011 to raise awareness of its potential. Funds achieved help towards the fabric of the building as well as work in the immediate area.
The next fair is on Saturday February 14 from 10am-3pm. As always, a variety of stallholders will show their own hand-made cards, jams and preserves, knitted items for adults and children, beautifully crafted jewellery, delicious cakes and pies, hand-sewn items for the house and home, etc. A selection of used craft books are also on sale. Refreshments are available all day and the church facilities include car park, full disabled access and toilet facilities. Entrance is free and the church is located half way between the railway station and the seafront, St Leonards Road and Cantelupe Road junction.
