Senlac Scout Carol Service

SAINT Michael's and All Angels Church was filled to capacity for the annual Senlac Scout District Carol Service.

This was conducted with humour and sincerity by the District Chaplain, the Rev Michael Brydon.

Seven readings from the Bible were eloquently spoken by Cub Scouts and Scouts telling the story of Christmas, concluding with the Gospel Reading: Luke 2: 4 -14.

Eight well-known Christmas carols echoed around the church to acknowledge a joyous occasion. Traditional Christmas cracker jokes, presented this year by the Chaplain, were well received, as interludes before further singing.

The guessing and opening of presents within parcels being congregation participation, preceded a short illustrated talk which spoke of Love, the Baby Jesus and his death upon the Cross.

The County Commissioner for East Sussex, Ian Kirby presented The Award of Merit to Heather Wilson, Local Training Manager Senlac, Hastings and Rye Districts.

A final prayer was followed by a rendering of Hark the Herald Angels Sing and the blessing which concluded a memorable occasion and fellowship with refreshments to include popular mince pies.

Organisation and planning was by the Chaplain and Peter Clark, Assistant District Commissioner (Cub Scouts).
