Sex attack in Bexhill gardens

MANOR Gardens in Old Town were closed to the public by police on August 14 following an overnight sex attack.

Police are hunting a man in his twenties.

A spokesman said: "At about 11pm on Tuesday, a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Manor Gardens."

The victim is in her thirties.

The offender is described as white, 20-25, 6ft, of strong, medium build, with brown hair cut in a "curtain" style.

He was wearing a light-coloured shirt and tight-fitting beige trousers.

The victim had been waiting for a bus by the Manor Gardens when she was approached by her attacker.

After talking to the man, who was not known to the victim, they headed towards the gardens.

Detective Constable James Hookway said: "As far as she was concerned she was going home.

"After the attack the offender made off from that location and has not been seen since."

The area was closed off until it could be given a thorough forensic examination in daylight.
