Sisters jailed for huge crime spree

BEXHILL sisters Danielle and Natalie Leach have been sentenced to a total of nine years in prison between them for a series of burglaries, deceptions and thefts.

Danielle received a five and a half year jail term and Natalie three and a half years imprisonment at Lincoln Crown Court on September 5. The two girls are both 20, with Natalie being 11 months older than her sister, and come from Pebsham Lane.

The list of offences dealt with by the court spread over the three counties of Sussex, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. In Sussex alone they were charged with 44 crimes of burglary, theft and deception, most of which were committed in the Rother area.

Commenting on the case, Detective Inspector Trevor Bowles, of Rother CID, said: "This case has been a lengthy and complex investigation. There have been many victims who have been affected by the criminal lifestyle of these two young women. Our investigation has been greatly assisted by the resilience and courage of these victims, many of whom were elderly. I am enormously grateful to all of them."

He continued: "The Neighbourhood Policing Team at Bexhill, Rother CID and indeed, other police forces, have worked together to ensure that a robust case was presented to the Crown Court.

"Tackling burglary of people's homes remains one of our key priorities, and the sentences passed in this case reflect the determination of the courts to ensure that the appropriate message is sent to these criminals."
