Son charged with burning father's house

A MAN has been charged with setting fire to his father's home.

Graham Farley, 39, of no fixed address, is alleged to have committed the act following an argument with his dad Peter at the chalet bungalow in Hillcrest Avenue, Bexhill, on Friday.

Three fire crews - two from Bexhill and one from Hastings - tackled the blaze which took hold in the bedroom at about 5pm.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus sets and two hosereels to deal with the incident, which badly damaged two bedrooms.

No one was hurt.

Farley entered no plea to a charge of arson when he appeared on Monday in front of magistrates at Hastings Court.

He was remanded in custody until the morning of October 10 when he will appear at Lewes Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.
