Sporting challenge for Bexhill College

Bexhill College were up against the cream of sporting talent at the South East Area British College Championships.

The college's Sports Academy took a team of 49 competitors to Portsmouth to compete in a wide array of events.

Performance of the day came in doubles badminton where Oli Norris teamed up with Will Harrington, both in tremendous form.

They fought their way through the opening rounds to reach the semi finals where they narrowly missed out on a place in the final in a closely fought encounter.

The men's football team were up against some top sides from the district. They battled their way to the quarter finals where they lost by the odd goal, going down 2-1 to Kingston College.

In the pool the girls' swimming team came in an excellent 5th while their male counterparts managed a 10th place finish.

The trampoline team put in a solid display to finish half way up their group table. There were also some strong displays from the table tennis and ladies' football teams.

Sports Academy tutor Kieran Cahill said "There were some great performances out there. In the badminton especially, the guys were up against the top talent in the country. One of the colleges had England's number 2 ranked player, so it was very tough for everyone"
