Camilla Stapleton-Hibbert had been missing from her mother's home in Hastings since November 5 when police launched a missing persons appeal.

They feared the 21-year-old was in a depressed state.

The coroner's office confirmed on Wednesday the body found by the coastguard rescue team on a routine exercise on Sunday was that of Camilla.

She was in her third year of a Photography degree at Falmouth College.

St Richard's principal Tony Campbell was deeply saddened by the news. He said: "Camilla was an absolutely lovely girl.

"We are very sad and distressed at St Richard's after hearing of her death. We will do everything to support her family at this time.

"She was a fantastic young lady and always committed to the school community during her time here."
