Students at Bexhill Academy were put through their paces in the election for Executive Head Boy and Girl.
The Academy, whose motto is ‘Educating tomorrow’s leaders’, began the process in the summer term with modules of leadership training for students, followed by open invitations to apply for leadership positions in the new House Structure, named after the top Universities across the world.
Principal, Heidi Brown said: “I am delighted and overwhelmed with the number of applicants we had for student leadership roles.”
Successful students have become ambassadors for subject areas, sports captains, Deputy and Head Girls and Boys of each house.
The next stage involved the ten student House Head’s applying for the position of Executive Head Boy and Girl of the Academy. Following a rigorous interview process with the Senior Leadership Team, four candidates were selected.
Candidates competed in an election campaign which involved producing a manifesto and presenting to over 1,500 students and parents in a week. The final count revealed an incredibly close outcome.
The successful candidates were Rebecca Smart (Becky) and Jacob Betts.
Heidi Brown said: “ Congratulations to both students and thanks to all students who put themselves forward for Leadership roles.”
