Tasty dish for a donation

The chance to sample delicious but healthy food was offered at a tasting session at the youth centre in Station Road on Saturday morning.

Avril Earnshaw who runs four Slimming World sessions in Bexhill organised the event to raise money for Wendy Bathard and Paul Barber who are currently walking the coastline of Britain for charity.

She was so inspired when she met the couple, and their dog Havoc, that she wanted to help contribute funds to their chosen charities, Guide Dogs For The Blind and the RNLI.

Members of her Slimming World groups got together to prepare different tempting dishes which visitors could then try out and give donations for.

Avril said: "It has gone very well - this was the first time we have done this.

"The ladies who belong to the four sessions did a lot of food for us then came and supported us which was really good. We have had people come here who are interested in slimming, some who came in for a coffee, some people who loved the food, and some who just came for a neb."

Popular dishes included chocolate amaretto mousse, which was a huge hit with the Observer, chilli meatballs, carrot and coriander soup, chocolate apricot bites, and vegetable quiche.

Avril added: "I am very pleased. The support from the members and all the work they have put in has been absolutely amazing."

The event raised 219.
