Thank you for the music, says high school

MUSIC lovers have a unique event at Bexhill High to look forward to next weekend.

The music department at the new school will open its doors to welcome musicians of all ages on Saturday June 11.

Top brass ensemble Harveys Brass will perform a concert in the school theatre that evening and will also host a one-off workshop in the afternoon for wind and brass players, young and old, who are around grade 3 standard or higher.

The Bexhill Blast Scratch Band will play a couple of numbers with Harveys Brass at the concert.

Director of Music, Katy de Braux, said: “We’re really excited about this important step in bringing the whole community together to play music.

“Who knows, this could be the beginning of the Bexhill Festival Wind Orchestra, just like the Bexhill Festival Chorus.”

Harveys Brass is a 12-piece brass ensemble based in Sussex, and one of its number is trombone-player Phil Baxter, music teacher at Bexhill High.
