There's life in the old church yet

A MAJOR fire in November 2005 almost spelt the end for Bexhill's St Barnabas Church, but priest-in-charge Father Roger Crosthwaite is keen to let townsfolk know that the building and its facilities in Sea Road are burgeoning under restoration.

He said: “The church is being beautifully and gradually restored, and we want to see it being used by the community, for the community. The church and its crypt - which hopefully will be refurbished this year - kitchen and toilets are all available for hire for regular or one-off events.

“These might include ballet, badminton, art exhibitions, dance classes, business meetings, training days, midday and evening concerts, plays, choir rehearsals, school concerts and plays, and much more.”
