Have you got a pretty puppy or a cute canine? Demelza Hospice Care for Children is looking for a prize pooch to feature on their promotional leaflets for their next fundraiser.

Due to the success of last year’s event, the charity is organising a ‘Pooches on the Prom’ dog walk and dog show at the Metropole Lawns on Western Parade. The judging panel is looking for an eye-catching dog to feature on promotional material and is inviting owners to send in photos. The winning photogenic pooch last year was Harry, a two year old American Shih Tzu. His young owner, Ariana, read about the charity’s competition in the Observer and was thrilled when he was chosen as the top dog. Harry joined in the walk and entered several classes on the day. This year’s event is taking place on Sunday May 24 and will feature a three mile walk to the pier and back, followed by a fun Dog Show. Entries will be just £5 per dog for the walk and £2 per class at the show.

This event is so special

Tom and Vicky Craggs

The event is inspired by a young girl who used the services of Demelza. Tom and Vicky Craggs from Bexhill said: “This event is so special to us as it’s in memory of our lovely girl, Charlotte Craggs. It’s very poignant as she used to love stroking the dogs along Bexhill seafront.”

Julie Brett, Community Fundraiser at Demelza, said, ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to Tom and Vicky for helping me to organise this event, Dampbusters for acting as sponsors, and also the Bexhill Observer for their continued support. We had a fantastic response to our photo competition last year.”

If your dog’s face could head up the event then all you need to do is enter them for the Dog Walk and e-mail aphoto to Include your phone number so that you can be contacted for entry details as the competition is only open to dogs who have registered and pre-paid for the Walk.
