Thieves strike at Little Common store

HEARTLESS thieves have left a Little Common shopkeeper with a worry in the run-up to Christmas.

The early-morning bundles of papers delivered to Thirugnanam Sureshan have twice been taken from the doorstep of his convenience store on Little Common Road.

On the first occasion the torn papers were discovered in an alleyway a few hundred yards away.

The papers went missing for a second time on Wednesday of last week and have not been recovered.

The thieves are striking between the papers being delivered at 4am and when Mr Thirugnanam brings them in at around 5.30am.

He said: "It is very hard for us to get up at that time and bring the papers in and then come back down to open up at 5.30am. I didn't make a big issue out of it the first time and mentioned it to the PSCO and left it like that.

"But then it happened again and all the papers had disappeared so I had to do something. It is a big loss for us. At this time of year we can't keep up a loss like that.

"We have got a lot of elderly people living nearby and if stuff like this is happening you want them to be aware. Vandalism is starting to come back into Little Common a little bit. Hopefully someone might have seen something and can help the police."
