In the last year, TLC has received 300 requests, helped out on 119 occasions.

“We’re delighted that somebody would nominate us. We wanted to help people getting to and from hospital and 119 occasions is an exceptional number,” said Gerald Gresham Cooke, secretary of TLC.

With a 33-strong team of dedicated voluntary drivers, TLC ensures those who request help can get to their doctor and hospital appointments. The charity runs a hot-line service, gives advice on pensions and carers’ attendance allowance, and carries out research and signposts people to the relevant professionals.

TLC consists of a committee of six people, including a retired doctor, nurse and accountant and the team of 33 drivers who unite to meet the needs of those requiring help.
