During that time, the road was closed to through traffic each day between 9am and 4pm from The Ridge West to Ashbrook Road.

As well as resurfacing the road, East Sussex Highways replaced ironwork and refreshed road markings from the junction with Upper Church Road to near the Ridge West Roundabout.

The road improvement come after months of campaigning from local residents.

Andy White, along with hundreds of others, said the road was in a ‘disgusting state’ in March and urged the council to address the issues.

At the time, East Sussex Highways said it planned to resurface the road in the summer but could not complete it sooner due to limited resources.
