Road to Camber Sands closed by Sussex Police

Police have closed the main road leading to Camber Sands this morning (Thursday, June 25).

Rother District Council announced the move had been taken to shut Camber Road at the junction with the A259 due to the ‘volume of traffic heading to the beach’.

All three car parks and the overflow car park are full and have been closed, the authority said.

Earlier today Rother District Council urged people to consider visiting alternative beaches.

All three car parks and the overflow car park were closed at 1pm yesterday (Wednesday, June 24), but motorists continued to travel to the beach.

The council said ‘thousands of cars’ headed to Camber Sands yesterday, causing gridlock.
