Services between the two stations are disrupted, with delays affecting passengers between Eastbourne and Ashford International.

Southern said it is sending response staff to deal with the tree, which is on the line between Ore and Ore tunnel.

“The position of the tree means that trains cannot terminate at Ore or travel through to Rye and Ashford International,” Southern said.

Southern services to and from Ashford International will be ‘severely delayed, cancelled or revised’ to only complete parts of their journeys – for example, only running between Rye and Hastings.

Southern added: “Services which usually terminate at Ore will need to terminate before reaching the station – for example at Hastings – starting their return journeys away from Ore.

“Journeys will take much longer than usual on these routes. If you must travel then please travel later where possible.”

Southern is sourcing replacement buses for the area.
