Sussex evening travel report: Bus and pedestrian collide and car involved in crash with cyclist

In Crawley, Tilgate Way was blocked both ways earlier this evening due to an accident involving a car and a cyclist between the A2004 Southgate Avenue and Ashdown Drive. Crawley Police confimred the road has since reopened.

Very slow traffic has been reported on A259 Chichester Road eastbound from B2144 Drayton Lane to Elbridge Avenue.

'Heavy congestion' has been reported in the construction area on A259 Brighton Road both ways from A2025 South Street to The Saltings (Saltings Roundabout). Temporary traffic lights are in place for water main works.

'Severe delays' are said to be gradually easing on A27 Upper Brighton Road westbound between A270 Upper Shoreham Road (Southwick / Holmbush turn off) and First Avenue. The average speed has been reported as ten mph.

Traffic is mostly clear in East Sussex this evening.

In Brighton, A23 London Road has now reopened after an accident involving a bus and a pedestrian

A lane is closed on A27 Polegate By Pass both ways between A2270 Eastbourne Road and A22 (Cop Hall Roundabout), due to construction works.

Potmans Lane is closed both ways between A269 Ninfield Road and Church Road, due to telecoms work.
