Sussex morning traffic bulletin for Sunday, October 18

Engineering works have closed some train lines in Sussex today.

Work is taking place between Ashford International and Hastings, closing all lines.

Southern, which runs the service, said rail replacement buses will operate between Ashford International, Hastings and Ore.

Trains will run between Hastings and Brighton, but are subject to late notice re-timing.

Elsewhere, engineering work is taking place between Three Bridges and Brighton, closing all lines today.

Southern said buses will also replace trains between Three Bridges/Haywards Heath and Lewes (via Cooksbridge).

A reduced direct service is also running between London Victoria and Brighton, which will be diverted via Horsham and Littlehampton with extended journey times, the firm said.

On the roads, there are no reports of congestion so far this morning.

But a number of roadworks are taking place across Sussex, which may cause delays for motorists.

Temporary traffic lights are in operation due to construction work on Sea Road around The Ship in Winchelsea.

And in St Leonards, water main work means temporary traffic lights have been put on the A259 in Marina near the Marina Fountain pub.

Gas main work is taking place near Bexhill, meaning there are temporary traffic lights on the A269 Ninfield Road at Elva Way.

Elsewhere in the county, telecoms work is taking place on the B2259 Upper Bognor Road at High Street meaning there are temporary traffic lights in place.

According to the AA, there are also temporary traffic lights due to construction work on the B2166 Pagham Road near Marsh Lane.

In Brighton there are temporary traffic signals due to gas main work on Eastern Road near the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
