A man was taken to hospital after a tree fell on him during high winds yesterday afternoon (Sunday, February 22).
The 32-year-old was in the Highwoods in Pear Tree Lane when the accident happened shortly after 2.50pm.
The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) sent a paramedic car and ambulance to the scecne.
SECAmb’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), which specialises in recovering patients from hard to reach locations, was also called.
A spokesperson for SECAmb said: “It was a difficult to access area, so we had to meet in the car park and follow paths through the woods to find the patient.
“We worked together to get him back to the main ambulance before taking him on to hospital.”
Because paramedics found it difficult to reach the trapped man, he was not taken to the Conquest Hospital until 5.40pm.
The man is believed to have fractured his leg and sustained a head injury during the incident.
