Tumble Tots launches Eat Fit Keep Fit campaign

A GAILY-coloured tot-sized assault course filled the hall at St Peter's Community Centre on Wednesday.

During the day more than 100 enthusiastic little members of Tumble Tots attacked the various challenges with gleeful abandon.

They looked a picture of fitness and boundless energy.

The noise of children happily playing almost drowned conversation as, between guiding little ones as they plunged over padded cylinders, Bexhill Tumble Tots organiser Veronika Anderson explained what it was about.

Tumble Tots is conducting an Eat Fit Keep Fit healthy eating campaign. This year, Tumble Toys have teamed with best-selling author on children's food and nutrition Annabel Karmell.

Sessions throughout Wednesday had started with toddlers under two at 9.45 and progressed through four and five to six year-olds.

Parents were being given special Eat Fit Keep Fit healthy-eating-on-a-budget leaflets with recipes such as Kids' Fruity Chicken Curry and Mummy's Pot Noodles plus the chance to enter a competition.

Veronika said: "This is just the beginning. We are really introducing it this week. We are telling mums about it. We are giving them an incentive to eat healthily.

"Sometimes, children don't want to try broccoli or something that the mums want them to try. We are going to give them a sticker if they try something new and healthy.

"The more they try something the more they tend to like it."

And were there any over-weight youngsters taking part? Veronika was not answering that one. But she was pleased with the success of the day and says the Eat Fit Stay Fit campaign will continue.
