The July meeting was our annual strawberry and tea afternoon which was enjoyed by about 70 members.
There was no speaker as this was a social afternoon, but there was plenty of chatting go on as we tried to solve the monthly quiz - several of us failing miserably though! Ros mentioned that on the 14th we had a very pleasant day trip to the Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire to see a couple of recordings of the TV show Pointless and it certainly opened our eyes as to what goes on behind the scenes which none of us get to see on the television. Luckily it managed to stay dry, despite the forecast, which was just as well because everyone has to queue in the open before being allowed into the studio. There were still spaces available for the lunch in August. Our next meeting will be on August 20th when Paul Lendon will be talking about “Sussex Day”.
