Two tonnes of shredded paper in Bexhill lorry catches fire

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to Birkdale after reports of a fire in a goods vehicle carrying two tonnes of shredded paper at around 9.05am.

Breathing apparatus, a hose reel and thermal image camera were used to put out the fire, while the road was closed.

Fire crews left at 9.40am having assisted with the clear up.

Bexhill firefighters were sent to London Road after electrics became flooded at around 5.55am this morning (Monday, February 13).

The crew isolated the leak and made the property safe.
