The children in KS2 at St Mary Magdalene Primary School took part in the British Heart Foundation’s Ramp Up the Red Day.
Ramp Up the Red is a fundraising campaign which highlights and focuses on Britain’s number one illness which is heart disease.
The children in Years 3,4,5 and 6 all took part in an Ultimate Dodgeball Knockout Tournament.
There were 16 teams, four representing each house of St Patrick, St David, St Andrew and St George.
It was a great day with children making banners, cheering for their houses and wearing house colour t-shirts. They all watched a short video reminding them of the reason for the tournament. Not only did the children have a lot of fun but they learnt about the British Heart Foundation and raised a significant amount of money for the charity.
The day came to a climactic end with the whole school watching and cheering in the playground. It was a fiercely contended final which saw St Patrick’s take on St Andrew’s. After three rounds St Andrew’s managed to eliminate all of the St Patrick’s players and were declared the winners of the Ultimate Dodgeball Tournament 2015.
