UPDATE: Staff left '˜shaken' after robbery at Bexhill bookmakers

Staff at a bookmakers in Bexhill were left '˜shaken' after a robbery over the weekend.

Police were called to the BetFred store in Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, Bexhill, on Saturday (March 26).

Officers said staff were confronted by a man at about 8pm who threatened them and demanded money. No weapon was seen and the man covered his face.

Police said he took several hundred pounds cash and fled the shop.

The staff were shaken but not injured, officers added.

The shop was cordoned off until 11pm whilst an investigation was carried out.

The suspect is described as being about 5`10” and of slim to average build. He was wearing dark clothing including a black face covering and black hooded top with the hood up.

Detective Constable Rob Mitchell-Davis said; “Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police via [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 1255 of 26/03.

“Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police added they are not currently linking the robbery with any recent incidents in East Sussex.
