Travellers arrived at Bexhill Down yesterday evening (Tuesday May 26).
Around a dozen caravans plus some other vehicles pitched up on the cricket and football pitches at around 9pm.
A number of people called police to report the travellers’ arrival.
A spokesperson from Sussex Police said: “Officers attended the site with Rother District Council representatives on Wednesday morning.
“It is expected that the travellers will be served with a notice to leave in due course.”
The land is owned by Rother District Council.
The local authority has yet to comment.
