Valentines event raises funds for Haiti

A VALENTINE'S event to raise funds for Haiti earthquake victims was held at St Michael's rest home on Cooden Drive.

Care Manager Susan Ansell, said the day was enjoyed by residents, family and friends and staff.

Susan said: "It was a wonderful day enjoyed by all. Our cook, Freda Mutton, prepared the buffet and made the Valentines cake. Entertainment was provided by Gloria, who played old time music on her keyboard, and there was singing and dancing."

St Michael's owners and staff decked the room in a festive traditional red theme with balloons, and heart shaped trimmings.

Two Valentines cakes were auctioned along with a raffle raising 120, which Susan said the owners will double, making a grand total of 240 for Haiti.
