Bexhill Seagirls W.I. hired a vintage bus for a fun night out to mark the centenary of the organisation.
Karen Chapman explained: “The bus we hired had appeared in a episode of Heartbeat”.
“We all dressed up for the occasion in outfits from the last decade ranging from 1920’s up to the present day with the 20’s and 50’s being a popular era.
“The bus proved to be rather an adventure as we sprung a water leak before we left the church hall to go to the restaurant so had to have a mechanic out.
“The bus driver was frequent in his reminders to “watch out for the judder!!” as we set off.
We went to The Moorings restaurant, at Pevensey, which did lovely food. We had lots of laughter and a good evening was had by all.
“Everyone raised a toast to the last 100 years and one to the next 100 years.
“Unfortunately on our return to the bus to bring us home we were informed by the driver that our back lights were not working !! We had to wait for the mechanic to escort us home to be our back lights. We had a very jovial and rowdy rendition of Jerusalem on the bus home.”
