Way forward for Egerton Park

Look to the future is the message from Friends of Egerton Park.

A committee meeting was held to discuss the failed lottery bid and discuss the way forward following this blow to plans for major improvement work at Egerton Park.

Information Officer Alvin Culzac said the group believes renewal will still go ahead but at a slower pace and is calling for Bexhill residents to join Friends of Egerton Park to give their backing and support.

Alvin commented: "In the aftermath of the failed lottery bid, the project steering group, on which the Friends of Egerton Park have a representative, met with Rother Council to agree a joint consensus on the way forward.

"And so the full committee of the Friends of Egerton Park met recently and it was decided that there's no need to wallow in defeat.

"The Park belongs to the people and has an iconic history to live up to. Remember the glorious past when families flocked into the park? The Friends will support the Council as they endeavour to return the Park to those heady days. Now that we are in the midst of a deepening recession, the citizens can rest assured that Egerton Park will be a haven for families.

"An open invitation to join the Friends is hereby given. Come to the Children Centre in Egerton Park on Saturday March 7 between 11-1pm to meet the Committee and give your support for your Park.
