Young eco-warriors branch out

YOUNG eco-warriors from Sidley Community Primary School, have made their own contribution to protecting Mother Earth by planting 15 saplings of species native to Britain.

They were taking part in Monday’s Big Tree Plant, a campaign aimed at increasing the number of trees planted in towns, cities and neighbourhoods across the country.

The planting was carried out in conjunction with Keep Britain Tidy and Defra, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Sharon Dorman, business manager at the school, said: “The Sidley School Eco-Warrior Team meets every fortnight to share ideas on how we can be more eco-friendly and make our school more sustainable.

“We have already achieved the Silver Award and are now trying hard to achieve the Green Flag Award.”
