Contrasting experiences

This letter is by way of an observation on two very contrasting experiences we are going through down here on the seafront.

The good one I have written to you about in previous years and this is namely to congratulate all those concerned with the very high standard of magnificent colourful floral displays and also the dedicated care being given to these seafront gardens including the continuous tidying up, grass cutting etc which is so much appreciated by all us old-time dwellers here and visitors alike.

Sadly, there is a flip side to this in the total lack of council service on the other side regarding the non-event of refuse disposal.

I am not aware of the situation regarding neighbouring properties but as far as our block of 15 flats is concerned the lack of adequate refuse disposal has been horrendous with the norm being about three weeks between visits with luck.

Numerous complaints have been made and received with courtesy and sincere promises of prompt action – but sadly no action.

In the bin area the mess and stink builds up and the sea gulls have another field day.

It is a pity for those of us fortunate enough to live in such a wonderful environment as Bexhill to seemingly have to endure on the other side such a blighted existence.

It has never been like this in all my previous 40 years of living here.
