Generosity was most welcome

Whilst selling poppies in Marks & Spencer at Ravenside last week, I would like, through your paper, to thank the following:

Firstly, the M&S management at the store for allowing us to stand inside, the many people who kindly bought a poppy and those who put money in without taking a poppy saying they already had one but still contributing to the Poppy Appeal.

I would also like to thank the young lady who kindly brought me down a cup of tea and a piece of cake on Saturday – believe me it was very welcome.

Lastly, may I thank, on behalf of the many people who attended the seafront service on Sunday, Ben, who read a piece of verse so beautifully that there were quite a few tears in peoples’ eyes.

Also Father Robert Coates and the buglers who played the last post and finally to those who attended – a big thank you on behalf of Bexhill British Legion.
