It’s against the law, full stop

Oh dear! One of the people I was referring to in my ‘Pavements are for Pedestrians’ (July 15) letter, Eric Mitchell, has taken umbrage.

It’s a shame he’s missed the whole point of my letter which was; It is against the law to ride a bicycle on the pavement. Full stop.

I did mention the part of the Highway Code that states it so that people could check for themselves. So his reasons for riding on the pavement aren’t valid. Sorry.

He also got it wrong when he stated that I suggested it was foolish to wear a safety helmet. I didn’t.

I said: “....wearing those stupid looking helmets....” I stand by my opinion on that matter.
