Whatever happened to bicycle bells?
When I was young I remember that most cyclists had bells attached to the handlebars of their bikes to be rung when approaching pedestrians and to warn people they were coming.
Nowadays cyclists seem to have no problem in silently coming up behind walkers (often at speed) and giving them a fright. This happens mostly on the promenade.
Now that we are all so Health and Safety conscious I would have thought that a bike bell would be an efficient safety feature to help protect pedestrians and cyclists.
