Money should go to the council

The front page stated that ‘Businesses, residents and councillors want parking to be decriminalised’.

This statement should have said ‘some’ of the above.

I am on this occasion behind the leader of RDC in opposing this idea.

Many people come to Bexhill because of the free parking. I believe that pressure should be put on central government to allow the council to provide traffic wardens and their salary to be paid from the fines received.

Currently the money from fines go directly to central government; traffic wardens work!

Parking permits for residents often do not work, because they are not guaranteed a space, it just means if they can find a space they are legally allowed to park there.

I know personally residents who have given up their permits because their chances of finding a space are not improved by paying for a permit.

A large car park is desperately needed in Bexhill.

Parking in the town at present at £1.50 for one hour is far too high and does exacerbate the problem.
