Pavements are for pedestrians

As anyone who has read the Bexhill Observer over the past few years will know I have been campaigning against pavement parking for some time now.

I know that many motorists will feel that I have been too strident in my protests against this scourge and that it is over blown.

I would ask them to check out the Guide Dogs website for this campaign: http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/supportus/campaigns/streets-ahead/pavement-parking/where-is-pavement-parking-happening#.VY7XjZVRGM9 and take a look at the photos posted there. Do they really believe that this sort of parking is justified and acceptable?

This type of selfish and anti-social behaviour is becoming more common place everywhere.

Pavements are there for pedestrians, not to provide off road parking for motorists.

Maybe our new MP would care to give his thoughts on this matter.

Maybe our local police commander would like to explain why his officers take no action, even though it is their responsibility (maybe, as a start, he could encourage his officers to set a good example by refraining from parking police vehicles on the pavement).
