From: Eric Hardwick MBE, Race director, Hastings Half Marathon
Sunday, March 19 will see the 33rd running of the Hastings Half Marathon, organised by The Hastings Lions for The Community.
As always we ask for your understanding and patience on race day, as we do realise it does cause some disruption in our area, but we do the best we can to publicise the event so that you can plan the day and avoid and travel problems.
Please try to start any vehicle journeys before 10.30am, or leave after 1.30pm, but bear in mind the A21 and Battle Roads are not affected, and you can move around within the town. If you have any visitors from outside the area, on that day, please let them know.
There are maps available of the route and timings, and these will possibly be printed in this paper also.
But very importantly, we ask you to come out in your thousands, as you normally do, and support the runners/walkers, most of whom are raising monies for many needy charities and causes. The Hastings spectators are famous the world over for their support, and the runners love you too.
In addition to numerous entertainment on race day, this year we have two new acts, with The Oresome Sounds at Ore, and the Dolly Parton Tribute Band at The Azur.
The race starts at 10.30am at Sea Road, St Leonards, but is preceded by a prologue of vehicles about 10 minutes in front of the first runners.
Race programmes will be available in race area, and at selected sports sites within Hastings.
Thank you for your most valued support.
