Privilege to work with and a friend

I had the privilege of serving alongside John Lee representing Collington Ward for three years.

He was a very hard working councillor who worked tirelessly on behalf of his ward.

When John was informed that a resident had suffered an injustice, he would pursue the matter to the bitter end on their behalf.

Over the years he became a close personal family friend.

My fondest memories were of his army anecdotes which he recounted after dinner on many occasions, especially after a glass or two of red wine.

He had a wicked sense of humour which was demonstrated after running the Hastings half marathon with his son and grandson in aid of St Michaels Hospice.

He told me that he named the trio the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

He was a perfect gentleman and an inspiration, and will be sadly missed.
