Should we ban dogs in summer?

Today I really thought I would go in for a swim!

Perfect conditions – except that I have just seen a large black dog drop a large brown deposit on the shingle.

The dog’s owner ambled over so slowly with her little poo bag that by the time she got there she had lost the location.

A fruitless search means that the faeces will be there in the water where I planned to swim.

Other bathers of course, on this lovely day, will be unaware of the danger to their health.

I may say that this a regular occurrence as the beach beside the splash deck is official doggy walking territory.

Is it not time that the beach is banned to dogs during the summer months ?
