I am appalled that parents kept their children from school in protest against them being tested.
I am in my 70s and I only wish that such tests were included during my schooling.
Otherwise, I would not have slipped through the net.
I am also a retired school governor and at one time I sat on a head teacher selection board for many years.
Test are therefore for two very good reasons.
To ensure that the child is being taught properly and they are keeping up with the learning standard so as to ensure they are not falling behind.
Not only is the child being tested so is the teacher.
But then when we have parent/s who themselves possibly failed at school, smoking at the school gates, more than willing to enter a challenge, teachers physically are those we see on that dreadful TV program shouting abuse at one another.
All you hear is ‘I love my kids, I’d do anything for my kids’. Well appears you do not. I sincerely hope those who kept their children from school are fined.
I as a taxpayer am paying for your child to be educated so your little darlings have a good start in life.
